The Technological Culture of the Peripheral City:Climate
Adapted Retrofitting for Self-Construction Dwellings

The research project aims to assess the use of traditional materials and techniques for the retrofitting of urban self-constructed dwellings in the peripheral neighborhoods of three cities representing the main climates zones in Colombia as a strategy for climate adapted architectural and urban renovation according to a NZEB approach. The study takes into account the technological culture of the city studying its architectural heritage and exploring its transformations with a “catalogue of elements” used throughout time (materials, construction techniques, systems and equipment).


Bio

Colombian architect, works in the field of Architectural technology. Passionate about innovation, sustainability and circular economy, after obtaining the title of Architect at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia Bogotá in 2014, she graduated with a Master’s Degree in Architecture for the Sustainable Design from the Politecnico di Torino in 2017. She has worked in several architectural firms in Italy and Colombia and has also collaborated in historical research about the Colombian territory. She currently carries out her research about climate adaptation in NZEB retrofitting for self-constructed dwellings.
