Learning from the Living Room: Architecture, Art, and Social Justice

What role does the domestic sphere play in how life is lived in the public sphere? What can we learn from the power relations of the domestic sphere to propose more inclusive public spaces? Who is entitled to be a host, and who must remain a guest within public spaces? Can design, art, and space- making be used to subvert the power dynamic between hosts and guests? What role does storytelling play in the constructions of our ideas of home and place?
