Adapted Retrofitting for Self-Construction Dwellings

Tutor: Paolo Mellano

The research project aims to assess the use of traditional materials and techniques for the retrofitting of urban self-constructed dwellings in the peripheral neighborhoods of three cities representing the main climates zones in Colombia as a strategy for climate adapted architectural and urban renovation according to a NZEB approach. The study takes into account the technological culture of the city studying its architectural heritage and exploring its transformations with a “catalogue of elements” used throughout time (materials, construction techniques, systems and equipment).
